Post 5 - Erasmus+ Viruskenner International Final Day 30 March 2023

On March 30, 2023, the Final Day of the Erasmus+ project Viruskenner International was held in Rotterdam.
The 1DS class of ITT Buonarroti participated in this 2023 edition accompanied by the Principal Ms Laura Zoller, Ms Stefania Stani, project coordinator, and the teachers Ms Leonarda Raffoni (Erasmus+ Accreditation coordinator) and Ms Daniela Gruber.
At the event there were students from several Dutch schools and from the TSM Mechelen Institute in Belgium.
Moreover, many were the students connected online from two schools in Suriname along with classes 2C, 2R and 2S of ITT Buonarroti with their teachers Ms Sara Pintacuda, Ms Immacolata Lopatriello and Ms Smeralda Pollara.
Our school participated in the final selection of the winning teams with 2 live presentations and 2 digital products, the best works of the 4 participating classes previously voted in each class. A panel of expert judges viewed and evaluated the presentations and in accordance with the criteria - content, creativity/innovation and social impact - the winning teams were identified.
For Italy, first place was awarded to the work done by the team composed of Tommaso Malfatti, Federico Pedretti, Davide Rinaldi and Samuele Fedel from class 1DS.
In addition to in-depth research on the West Nile Virus, the students made a video presentation, disseminated information via social media such as instagram and tik tok, and produced an anti-mosquito cream in the lab with the support of their chemistry teacher Ms Lucia Marchi. Runners-up were Martin Hung and Arianna Marsala with a video presentation demonstrating great communication skills and excellent technological skills.
On March 31 ITT Buonarroti left the Netherlands.
The host families drove the students to the airport and the teachers could witness first hand the success of the experience - tears poured from students' eyes and nobody wanted to leave.
Many of them have already agreed to visit each other during the summer holidays.
